HAYFEVER INJECTIONS
Seasonal rhinitis (Hayfever) is a common reaction that occurs at particular times of the year when plants release their pollen and affects one in four people in the UK.

Kenalog injections are a possible treatment option for those who have exhausted all other treatment options, including over the counter medication and prescription only oral medication.
What is Kenalog?
Kenalog contains triamcinolone, a potent corticosteroid. Triamcinolone reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation.
Corticosteroids are hormones that are produced naturally by the adrenal glands. They have many important functions in the body, including control of inflammatory responses. Triamcinolone reduces inflammation by stopping cells from releasing chemicals that normally help produce immune and allergic responses.

Does it work?
A Kenalog injection does not cure hay fever. It just temporarily suppresses the immune system enough to take away the symptoms in most people who need it.
A Kenalog injection helps many people with their symptoms of severe hay-fever. For many people it completely relieves the symptoms for the entire season and for others it reduces the severity of the symptoms to a point where adding other treatments can allow life as normal.
Occasionally a second dose of Kenalog may be needed. The clinician will discuss this with you. It is not recommended that anyone has more than 80mg (2 injections) per season except in exceptional circumstances
Patients will need to be over 18 years of age.
Important note
As Kenalog injections become more popular, it is important to remember that this is a PRESCRIBED mediation only. This cannot be offered by anybody. Please ensure that the practitioner administering it is experienced and adequately trained in drug administration and most importantly in how to deal with any potential allergic reaction. Although allergic reactions are rare, as with any medication they do occasionally happen and will need to be managed in an urgent and professional manner.
